Commission to study Low and Moderate Income Housing Act will meet Tuesday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The special legislative commission made for the Rhode Island Low and Moderate Income Housing Act is scheduled to meet with former director of Rhode Island Housing, Richard Godfrey, Tuesday January 31.
The physical meeting will take place from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in the House Lounge in the second floor of the State House. Godfrey will hold a presentation on housing programs. The meeting will be streamed live on the RI Legislature website as well as on television. It will be on Channel 15 and 61 of Cox, Channel 15 of Full Channel, and Channel 34 of Verizon.
The commission, chaired by Rep. June S. Speakman (D-Dist. 68, Warren, Bristol), is focusing on barriers that limit affordable housing creation and identify ways to support cities in meeting the requirements of the Low and Moderate Income Housing Act to ensure that at least 10 percent of their housing stock qualifies as affordable.
