WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Congressman Jim Langevin announced Wednesday afternoon that he does support the House Judiciary Committee’s impeachment inquiry into President Trump’s actions.
Congressman Langevin said that while he does not take talks of impeachment lightly, he does believe that the issues mentioned in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report warrants an impeachment investigation.
In a statement he said “Director Mueller paints a grim picture of a President who has little concern for the legality of his actions or their implications on American democracy. His actions demand further investigation, particularly with respect to any attempts to obstruct the Russia probe.”
Langevin added that while spending his August break in Rhode Island, many of his constituents have come to him with concerns in regards to President Trump’s actions.
He says “the American people deserve the full truth. They deserve the facts. And above all, they deserve a President who respects the rule of law.”
