Connecticut man arrested for burglary, narcotics charges after K-9 tracking

THOMPSON, Conn. (WLNE) — Connecticut State Police said a Thompson man was arrested on burglary and narcotics charges after being tracked by a K-9 unit on July 4.

Christopher Sargent was charged with burglary in the 3rd degree, interfering with police, and possession of a controlled substance.

Police said that around 11:30 a.m. a trooper was sent to Brandy Hill Road for reports of a man walking through backyards.

It was learned the suspect had ran from residents and allegedly entered a home through a basement window.

A K-9 unit was dispatch and tracked the suspect to a residence on Brandy Hill, where he was allegedly found hiding in a small room.

Police said that Sargent also had an active warrant out of Putnam for charges including criminal trespass in the 1st degree, larceny in the 6th degree, and breach of the peace.

He was released on a $7,500 and is scheduled to appear in court on July 18.
