Connecticut State Police provide update on fire that killed 4 juveniles
SOMERS, C.T. (WLNE) — Connecticut State Police said that a fire in Somerset that engulfed a home on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of four juveniles.
State police officers and the Somers Fire Department responded to a two-family home on Quality Avenue around 10:30 p.m. to find the house fully engulfed.
The fire resulted in the deaths of four juveniles and injuries to three other individuals as well as a firefighter.
State police said that one adult was at the home with the juveniles and was able to escape.
Detectives from the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit and the Eastern District Major Crime Squad began an investigation on scene and said the fire does not appear criminal in nature.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is also working to determine the cause of deaths and identities of the deceased juveniles.
State police are also asking the public for photos and videos that can help in the investigation to be sent to Det. Patrick O’Brien at Patrick.j.obrien@ct.gov.
