Cooler Temperatures start the Week

A cold front is coming through Sothern New England tonight with showers and the chance of thunderstorms. We could find periods of heavy rain that could be heavy enough to cause localized flooding. Other concerns from thunderstorms tonight include damaging winds and frequent lightning. The front will clear overnight and Monday starts off with much cooler and drier air. High temperatures Monday top in the lower-70s and  it will be mostly sunny with breezes from the northeast. Tuesday will have a little more cloudiness but it will also be cool in the 70s and dry in terms of humidity. Wednesday has a warm front coming through with clouds and the chance of showers as well as temps topping out near 76. Thursday is shaping up to be a nice day with mostly sunny skies and highs near 77. Warm and humid air returns for Friday with sunny skies and highs in the lower-80s. Saturday is looking pretty similar to Friday with sun, mugginess and highs near 83. Sunday is still taking shape and as of now there looks to be partly cloudy skies and the slightest chance of a shower.

Tropical Update: Hurricane Erin is still churning in the western Atlantic, skirting along the northern Caribbean islands. It has brought downpours of rain to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands over the weekend as it has downgraded to a category 3. As it approaches the coast of Florida, it is forecast to re-intensify to a category 4 as it makes a hard northerly turn up the eastern seaboard. Models are in excellent agreement on the track of Erin, keeping it out to sea as it passes by to the northern Atlantic. Although it won’t directly impact us with landfall, it will indirectly impact us with rough and choppy seas and most importantly, a high risk of rip currents.

Stay safe.
