Cooler today, looking great for the weekend

Weekend looking dry aside from a spot shower Sunday evening

We had a cold front move through last night, and this brought much-needed rainfall for some! We broke a 12-day dry streak in Providence, but not all of us were as lucky. The storms fizzled out as they moved south, so much of South County picked up little-to-no rain last night. Now, that front has moved through, and we have a cooler and much less humid airmass moving in for the weekend.

The next few days are looking comfortable with lots of sunshine. Look for high temperatures in the low 80s today and tomorrow, but temperatures increase as we head into Sunday. Highs will be in the upper 80s, and humidity increases as well. We also have a chance for a spot shower with another front that moves in Sunday evening, but it will be hit-or-miss, much like the storms last night. This front cools us off into the upper 70s to start next week.

Tropical Storm Erin is continuing to strengthen, but the track forecast is holding steady – so although we won’t see any direct impacts in Southern New England, we’ll have to watch for rough seas and a rip current risk next week.

11AM UPDATE: Erin has now strengthened into a Category 1 Hurricane. No major changes to the forecast track and still no major impacts for us.

Have a great weekend!
