Cooling centers open in Southern New England ahead of heat wave

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Cooling centers are opening in Southern New England in anticipation of this week’s heat wave.

ABC 6 meteorologist Chelsea Priest said a heat advisory will go into effect for Wednesday, as temperatures reach the mid-90s with high humidity levels.

Cooling Center locations for July 22-24 include:

FALL RIVER

Government Center: 1 Government Ctr.

  • Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Saturday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Barrington Public Safety Building: 100 Federal Rd.

  • 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
