Couple arrested after luring man to parking lot, stabbing him

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – A couple that stabbed a man after luring him to a parking lot with promises of sex have been arrested, Pawtucket Police said.
Police responded to 181 Garden Street on July 6th for reports of a stabbing. Officers on scene located a 28-year-old male victim who had been stabbed several times.
The victim told Police he was contacted on social media by an unknown woman, identified by Pawtucket Police as Christine Araujo, 29, of North Providence, who asked to meet him for a sexual encounter.
According to Police, Araujo picked up the victim before driving him to a parking lot near Taft Street in Pawtucket. There the victim was assaulted and stabbed by a male suspect, identified as Armando Gonzalez, 31, of Woonsocket.
The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
Following a weeklong investigation, Woonsocket Police obtained a warrant for Gonzalez, taking him into custody Thursday by the Violent Fugitive Task Force. Araujo was also taken into custody.
Both suspects face the following charges:
- Assault with Intent to Commit Murder
- Felony Assault
- Conspiracy
- Disorderly Conduct
Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in 6th District Court, Gonzalez Thursday afternoon and Araujo on Friday morning.
