Coventry High School staff member dies unexpectedly
COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — A Coventry High School school psychologist has passed away unexpectedly, according to a statement from the Coventry schools superintendent’s office.
The statement partially reads:
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the unexpected passing of our beloved faculty member, Dr. Lou Ruffolo. Dr. Ruffolo served as a dedicated school psychologist for over 23 years and also coached our Unified Basketball and JV Boys Soccer teams. His loss is deeply felt by the entire Coventry Public Schools community, and especially by Coventry High School.
In addition to his professional contributions, Dr. Ruffolo was a husband and father. Our hearts go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time. We kindly ask that you keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy as they navigate this profound loss.
Support services will be offered starting Wednesday for students and staff who request it, with clinicians, grief counselors, administrators and counseling staff on hand.
The counselors will be available Tuesday until 4 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
