Coventry Little League team heading to Regional Finals

BRISTOL, CT (WLNE) – The Coventry Little League All Stars are heading to the New England Regional Finals of the Little League World Series after a walkoff win over the New Hampshire team.
Coventry faced off against the team representing Goffstown, NH in the semifinal game in Bristol, Connecticut.
Trailing 5-0 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Logan Lama tripled to right center field to bring home two runs.
Next, Kody Fretts hit a line drive to center to bring home Lama and bring Rhode Island within 2 runs of Goffstown.
A bases loaded walk coming later in the inning brought Rhode Island within one run, and forced New Hampshire to make a late-game pitching chance.
Coventry’s Tommy Turner stepped up next to the plate, hitting an RBI single to center, tying the game at 5-5.
Dylan Mourao was waved in by Rhode Island coaches on the same play, sliding across the plate to score the winning run.
Coventry completed their comeback, winning the game 6-5, and advancing to Saturday’s New England regional championship at 1:00 p.m.
A victory against the team representing Pittsfield, MA Saturday would send Rhode Island to the Little League World Series tournament.
