Coventry man arrested for DUI after driving wrong way, crashing on Route 10

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Coventry man has been arrested after driving under the influence and crashing his car while driving the wrong way on Route 10 Wednesday morning.

Troopers received several calls reporting a vehicle traveling south in the northbound high-speed lane on Route 10 in Providence at 4:00 a.m.

Troopers spotted the car after it crashed into the guardrail wire separating the north and southbound lanes north of Reservoir Avenue in Cranston.

The vehicle was facing the wrong way.

Cory Bergeron, 26, of Coventry, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Bergeron was also cited for driving the wrong way on the highway.

He will be arraigned in District Court Wednesday.
