Coventry man found with child pornography while awaiting trial on previous similar charge
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Coventry man who was on pre-trial release for a child pornography charge pleaded guilty to an additional child pornography charge in federal court Tuesday, according to a statement from Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.
Scott Hickey, 46, pleaded guilty to possession and access with intent to view child pornography, exploitation of a minor, distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Hickey’s initial charge of possession and access with intent to view child pornography stems from June of 2019 when police allegedly found 164 images of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on his cell phone.
Before the 2019 case went to trial, Hickey “exploited a minor female multiple times while live streaming and/or recording sexually explicit activity” in 2023, according to Bloom’s statement.
After his July 2023 arrest, Hickey’s phone allegedly contained at least 572 CSAM images according to a law enforcement forensic audit of the device.
His sentencing is slated for October 23.
