Coventry ‘Snow Angel’ helps those in need with snow removal

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) – Thursday was a day of digging out of the freshly fallen snow for the people of Rhode Island. But, many simply can’t do that on their own.

In Coventry, disabled and elderly residents received some much needed help… From the town’s “Snow Angel,” who earned that title by clearing cars, driveways, and sidewalks at no cost.

“I am known around Coventry as the snow angel. I’ve been doing this for about three years now, I started when I was in High School. There’s not many people out there like me today,” said 20-year-old David Fournier Jr.

For the last three winter’s David has gone door to door, shoveling out cars.

“They are like a family member, but they actually aren’t. No matter what, I’ll get the job done.”

Whether it is clearing a sidewalk, shoveling a driveway, or brushing off a car or two, you’ll find David taking on the task for those who are unable to do it on their own.

“We have veteran’s out here… people who have lost loved ones… and those who cant do it because they are on oxygen,” said Fournier.

His client list started off small, but this year… It’s bigger than ever. And 2020 is year that so many people are in need and out of work.

Aside from being dubbed Coventry’s Snow Angel, Fournier has also been called a human snow plow.

“It can get hard, but I don’t stop until the job is done.”

He’s known throughout town for many just his skills, people say they notice his big heart first.

“The good that’s in me I was taught by my mom and dad,” David said.

He said he plans to be out in the next storm, and the one after that.

“I’ll keep doing this as long as I’m in Rhode Island.”
