Coventry solicitor resigns ahead of possible firing, council to vote on leadership change

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — Coventry town solicitor Stephen Angell resigned Wednesday ahead of a public meeting tonight that would have been discussing his termination.

This is according to a social media post from Councilman Richard Houle.

The Coventry Town Manager’s office has also confirmed Angell’s resignation.

On the agenda for tonight’s meeting, councilors will discuss an audit of the invoices between the town and the Angell’s law firm; changing town leadership, with Hillary Lima curranty serving as town council president; and the rules that will govern the town council as they move forward in the 2025 – 2027 term.

This special meeting is set for tonight at 6, in the Coventry Town Council Chambers.
