Cox Communication Suffers Outage in RI

Last weekend Cox Communications suffered a fire at one of their stations in Warwick. Last night, Cox sent a crew to repair some of the equipment that was damaged by fire. When the crew took a look at one of the fiber optic lines damaged by the fire, it disintegrated due to being badly burned in the fire.
As a result of the line that was lost, phone and TV was knocked out to some surrounding areas. Those areas included Burreville, Little Compton, Tiverton, Johnston, Gloucester, North Kingstown, and Bristol. As a result, those area police departments were without phone services. During the outage, people were forced to call 9-1-1 to get a hold of police.
All service has been restored by Cox. The outage started at 3:30 a.m. and lasted until 8:30 before all service was back up.
