Two people were taken to the hospital Wednesday night following a house fire in Cranston.

The Fire Chief tells ABC6 that two occupants of the home at 198 Chestnut Avenue were outside when fire crews arrived on scene and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for observation for smoke inhalation. By the time crews got there, they were dealing with more heavy smoke than visible flames.

Flames broke out around 10:30 p.m. and there is no reason to believe the fire suspicious, according to the Chief.

ABC6 will update with more details when available.
