Cranston man accused of 5th drunken driving offense

Glocester police say they’ve arrested a Cranston man for what they said was his fifth drunken driving offense in Rhode Island.
Edwin Foster was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol second offense within five years and driving on a cancelled license. Police say they responded to a car crashed in a snow bank Monday and arrested the 48-year-old Foster.
Police say he failed sobriety tests and was taken into custody and refused to take a breath test.
He was arraigned Tuesday and held on $100,000 bail. It was not known Wednesday if he’s represented by a lawyer.
Glocester police say Foster has four drunken driving convictions dating to May 1997. The most recent was in April 2011 and served one year in prison.
