Cranston man sentenced for child pornography conviction

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Cranston man was sentenced Thursday to 24 years in federal prison after being convicted of producing and possessing sexually explicit images and videos of a female under the age of ten, according to United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha.

Gregory Phillips, 42, pleaded guilty in January to charges that he produced child pornography and molested a young girl left in his care beginning in 2021.

61 images and four videos were produced by Phillips while abusing this victim.

A report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) found that an individual in Rhode Island had possessed and transferred child pornography, and a Rhode Island State Police task force found that the material was being transferred from an account linked to Phillip’s phone number.

Law enforcement discovered the images and videos after conducting a forensic review of cellphones seized from Phillips.
