Cranston man who alerted police to location of missing woman to be honored

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston man who alerted police to a missing woman with autism will be honored by the city.

Cranston mechanic Savong Sam will be honored by mayor Ken Hopkins Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Cranston City Hall

Savong will be presented a citation of recognition for helping find 45-year-old Linda DeLomba.

On Sunday, Sam was working on a car that had been parked on Pond Street for several weeks, and when he opened the back door, he noticed DeLomba curled up inside.

Police arrested DeLomba’s caregiver, Roberta Gerard.

She faces multiple charges, including abuse of an adult with severe impairments, which is a felony.

Gerard is out on bail, but she’s due back in court in June.
