Cranston Mayor appoints new Fire Chief

CRANTSON, R.I. (WLNE)- Cranston Mayor, Kenneth J. Hopkins, has appointed a new Fire Chief after the retirement of Chief Stephen Macintosh.
The new Chief will be James Warren, who had been acting as Fire Chief since Macintosh’s retirement in January.
Warren has been a member of the Cranston Fire Department since 1985. He has worked his way up the ranks since he started as Private.
Warren was promoted to Lieutenant, Fire Captain, Deputy Fire Chief, and eventually Assistant Fire Chief in January of 2020.
He discussed the honor of being promote to Fire Chief on Thursday, “It is a privilege to continue to serve the department where I started my career over 35 years ago. I am proud to have the opportunity to lead the women and men, both sworn and civilian, who serve our outstanding Fire Department.”
Mayor Hopkins explained why he chose Warren for the job, “James Warren has shown himself to be an exemplary leader during his career and tenure as Acting Chief.”
