Cranston Police cruiser struck while investigating larceny

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Police Department said that a police cruiser was struck while investigating a larceny at the Five Below on Garfield Avenue on May 3.

The officer who was investigating the incident requested emergency assistance, and another officer who was answering the call was struck while traveling through the Cranston Street and Gansett Avenue intersection.

The department said the cruiser that was struck had activated his emergency lights and siren while traveling through the intersection.

Both vehicles suffered disabling damage, and all occupants, which included the officer, a female driver, and her two children, were transported to the hospital with minor injuries and then released.
