Cranston police release bodycam footage from St. Mary’s Feast arrest

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston police have released the bodycam footage from a shooting that happened over the weekend near St. Mary’s Feast. 

28-year-old Michael Mancini was charged with:

  • Carrying a pistol without a license
  • Possession of a controlled substance (schedule I-cocaine)
  • Firing in a compact area
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Resisting arrest
  • Large capacity feeding device prohibited
  • Carrying a weapon while under the influence of liquor or drugs

Cranston police said they were working a detail on the same street when they heard a gunshot go off.

They found Mancini in fight with another individual, which stemmed from an argument at 39 West Restaurant & Lounge during the city’s St. Mary’s Feast.

Police took Mancini to the ground, and according to officials, Mancini refused to let go of his gun and was arresting arrest.

In the video, Mancini is heard saying, “he shot me with my gun bro!”

Police said they were able to subdue Mancini and seize the gun to later find that Mancini was shot in the leg, which was self-inflicted during the fight.

Mancini was taken to the hospital, where he currently remains.

Mancini was also found with cocaine on him when he was arrested.

His arraignment date has yet to be released.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
