Cranston police seek suspects accused of supermarket wallet heist

CRANSTON, R.I.– Cranston police are looking for two suspects that allegedly stole a wallet from an 83-year-old woman in a supermarket.
According to police, the female suspect distracted the woman by asking her questions about an item, while the male suspect helped himself to the woman’s wallet in her purse.
Police said the incident occurred at the Stop and Shop on Atwood Avenue on July 17.
The woman’s credit cards were used to purchase items immediately after the theft at a Bob’s Store, a CVS, and Kataan’s Market, all in the area in Cranston, according to a post on the Cranston Police Department Facebook page.
The pair allegedly ran up a bill of nearly $1,000, police said.
