Cranston Western Falls 7-1 in First Little League World Series Game

Cranston Western fell 7-1 in their opening game of the 2015 Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. The New England Regional champs were no-hit by South Carolina Pitcher Alex Edmondson. Edmondson had 15 strikeouts in the win. Rhode Island did not get shutout though thanks to some smart play from David Marchetti. After walking in the bottom of the second, Marchetti advanced to third base on two consecutive pass balls. When Jared Olson struck out swinging, Marchetti advanced and scored on the drop third strike.

The Rhode Island boys are not eliminated yet. They must now go undefeated the rest of the way to keep their hopes alive. They take the field again Saturday night at 8pm. They will face off against either the Midwest Champions from Missouri or the Mid-Atlantic Champions from Pennsylvania.
