PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A serious two car crash in Providence sent several to the hospital Sunday night.

Witnesses say it was late at night when the intersection of Potters Avenue and Cranston Street became total madness.

“I see these two cars come doing like 80 down Potters Avenue and they crashed right into that fence,” said witness Peter Medeiros.

Medeiros tells us the cars were filled with people.

“It looked like they were getting hurt,” he said. “The ambulance was there, and the fire trucks were there.”

Those that live in the area say unfortunately cars crashing into that fence on Cranston Street has become pretty common.

“That fence over there gets hit like so many times,” said resident Ed Lima.

Residents say they aren’t sure what the solution could be to prevent future crashes, but they would like to see more law enforcement in the area.

“I don’t even know why they don’t have some type of barrier or something to cover it, some type of something there. But the cars and people are very dangerous around here, nobody pays attention,” said Lima. “It’s out of control, it really is.”
