Creating a Legacy: One-on-One with AEW Triple Crown Champion Eddie Kingston

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Current All Elite Wrestling Triple Crown Champion Eddie Kingston is looking to leave a legacy in pro wrestling.

Q: You connect on a physical level and an emotional level to the fans. So how does it feel to connect to that audience in a physical and emotional way?

A: “It’s very weird, because I didn’t think anyone would connect to me. I’m just doing me. So when people do connect with me and do feel me like it’s just weird. I love the fact that I can take people on this journey with me and I’m not doing it by myself. You know, I got all these people that come to the shows, all the people that watch the shows are by the pay-per-views. They’re there with me, and, it’s like I said, it’s humbling and flattering at the same time.”

Q: What would your best friend, your mom, think about all your success in pro wrestling?

A: “She’s over the moon. You know, my mother never told me not to wrestle or do something else. She was like, ‘Do whatever makes you happy. Just stay out of the street.’ That was her big thing, so just to see her smile, and I hear her sometimes. She thinks I don’t when she brags about me to her friends on the phone. It’s just a really good feeling, because I never thought that I would never make my mother that happy. So to see that actually happening, it’s pressure, but it’s also it also makes me stay in the right direction.”

Q: What does it mean to you to continue history with the New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Open Weight Championship, the Ring of Honor Championship and the new history you can create with the Continental championship?

A: “Legacy is a big word in our business, and, to me, this is everything. Being a champion, being able to create your own legacy and leave your stamp on this business is all I ever wanted to do was leave a little dent. I feel like, being a Triple Crown Champion and being part of Eight W, I’m leaving more than just a little dent.”
