Fire damages home in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — A fire in Cumberland damaged a home Wednesday afternoon.

The fire happened at about 3 p.m. on Park View Trail.

Fire Chief Nick Anderson told ABC 6 News that the fire started on the first floor, where it caused significant damage.

Anderson said that the nearest fire hydrant was thousands of feet away, making things more difficult for firefighters.

The Rhode Island State Fire Marshal was on the scene to help with the investigation.
