Crews extinguish second alarm house fire in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Middletown Fire Department said it battled a second alarm house fire on Summerfield Lane on Wednesday evening.

According to the department, the flames originated in the fireplace, and made its way to the carpet and the floor.

Officials said the fire was extinguished pretty quickly.

Crews brought tankers to the scene due to there being no water source in close proximity to the house.
