Crews to continue demolition of Washington Bridge
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Starting Monday, the old Gano Street off-ramp will be demolished.
A second controlled demolition will also happen Tuesday at the same location.
In partnership with the Coastal Resources Management Council, RIDOT said it will monitor any debris entering the water during demolition, and remove it from the water.
RIDOT said it will also remove debris from the debris catching barge and position it under the next span to be removed.
RIDOT crews continue to monitor dust and noise levels daily.
No excessive levels of noise from controlled demolition have been observed so far.
And a heads up to commuters, starting next week on Tuesday February 18, there will be overnight lane closures on I-195 East for electrical cable installation between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
And until March 2, there will be possible lane closures on both I-195 east and west for bridge preservation work.
This is all a part of RIDOT ’s efforts to maintain and ensure the bridge’s safety.
