Snow removal crews worked tirelessly Friday cleaning up the mess the winter storm left behind.

Tyler Beausoleil spent the afternoon cleaning up the snowy sidewalks in Providence. He translates a snowy forecast into a business opportunity.

"It’s a chance to get out a make money you know,” said Tyler Beausoleil.

Lucky for him, his shift might be longer than usual. The wet and heavy consistency of the snow made it hard to do his job.

"Obviously light and fluffy snow is lighter snow, easier to carry with a shovel and that.  And the wetter snow kind of takes a little longer time it’s a little heavier. It’s definitely a little harder when it’s wet,” Beausoleil said.

And others across the city experienced similar problems. It’s the start of one shoveler’s birthday weekend and after yesterday’s mild temps, he wasn’t expecting Friday’s storm.

"I thought I was going to walk around in shorts and you know a T-shirt and all that stuff but right now I’m all bundled up ready to go and shovel,” said Nicholas Lima of Providence.

While many were staying indoors at the height of the storm, Lima was outside trying to get ahead of the snow.

"Brooming if you can get the broom, the shovel, anything to get all the slush out of there it’s pretty much that because all that build-up it’s not good,” Lima said.

Several others did the same and we asked one New Englander if these storms still phase him.

"I don’t think you ever get used to it. I’m looking forward to retiring in Florida,” said Providence resident Ken Block.
