Crime lab analyst says O’Keefe DNA on Read’s SUV tail light

DEDHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Testimony resumed Friday morning in the second murder trial of Karen Read.

A new witness, crime lab analyst Andre Porto, took the stand.

Porto testified about matching Boston police officer John O’Keefe’s DNA to samples taken from a broken drinking glass and stains on his clothing.

DNA from Read’s SUV tail light matched O’Keefe and two others, who weren’t identified.

During Friday’s recess, lawyers again discussed late expert reports introduced in the trial.

At the center of debate, a variance between data on when Read’s SUV crashed.

Defense lawyer Robert Alessi said the variation in data was unknown, and the defense would need days to address it.

The evaluation of expert reports could delay the trial.

The judge has not yet ruled on these issues.
