Crossroads to relocate shelter guests from NYLO hotel to shelters

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Crossroads Rhode Island have unveiled their plan to begin transitioning guests from the NYLO hotel.
The partnership between the hotel and Crossroads started at the beginning of the pandemic to help keep homeless Rhode Islanders safe and with any necessary support.
As the pandemic transitions to an endemic in Rhode Island, Crossroads shelters will return to allowed capacity at their Harrington Hall and Broad Street shelters, allowing them to relocate their shelter guests from the Warwick hotel.
Beginning on March 4, no more guests will be placed at the NYLO hotel. Crossroads is immediately contacting their guests to determine their immediate needs and housing plans.
On March 14, male shelter guests will be transferred to the Harrington Hall Shelter in Cranston.
On March 28, all female guests will be brought to the Women’s Shelter on Broad Street in Providence.
The expected end of the partnership was March 31, but to ensure the safest transition for any of the shelter guests, that partnership will run through the month of April.
Throughout the month of April Crossroads will gradually reduce the number of guests at the NYLO with the expectation that all will be removed and brought to an improved shelter by April 30.
