CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) – Rhode Island State Police arrested a Cumberland man Wednesday on  charges including possession of child pornography.

Michael Uccello, 29, was arrested at his home Wednesday as the result of a joint investigation by State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force.

According to State Police, Uccello engaged in communications with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl throughout the months of October and November, and attempted to solicit sexual activity.

As a result of the investigation, ICAC Task Force members obtained an arrest warrant for Uccello and a search warrant for his Greenview Street residence.

Task Force members conducted a search of the property on Wednesday, locating media devices belonging to Uccello that contained numerous files displaying child pornography.

Uccello was arrested and charged with Indecent Solicitation of a Child and Possession of Child Pornography.  He was arraigned in Sixth Division District and bail was set at $5,000 with special bail conditions of restricted internet access and no contact with minors.

Uccello was ordered held as a probation violator for allegedly violating the terms of an earlier probation from a conviction in connection with a previous arrest by the ICAC Task Force in 2017.

State Police said Uccello will be held at the Adult Correctional Institutions pending a Superior Court hearing next month regarding the probation violation charge.
