Cumberland man found guilty of child molestation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Cumberland man has been found guilty on multiple charges of child molestation, the Attorney General’s office announced Friday.

Kunwar Chadha, 53, was found guilty by a Providence Superior Court jury on two counts of second-degree child molestation.

According to prosecutors, Chadha molested an 11-year-old boy on occasions between October 31st, 2011 and July 31st, 2012.

The victim reported to the abuse to Cumberland Police in 2016.

Chadha was indicted by in November of 2016 and has been on home confinement bail since his arraignment one month later. Chadha’s bail was revoked following the verdict, and he was remanded to the Adult Correctional Institution.

No sentencing date has been scheduled at this time.
