PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Almost 800 workers at CVS Health will lose their jobs come 2025.

12 of those CVS workers are based in the state of Rhode Island.

The notice came last week, as CVS announced in early October that they were planning to layoff 2,900 corporate employees, with 153 employees based in Woonsocket and Cumberland.

According to a spokesperson, this month’s layoff notice was part of the pharmacy’s plan to lay off 2,900 employees nationwide, which is equal to 1% of the company’s workforce.

“We are committed to supporting these colleagues, who will receive severance pay and benefits, including access to outplacement services,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
