Dan Doyle vows to clear his name

More than three years after the founder of the Institute for International Sport, Dan Doyle, was arrested on charges of forgery and embezzling more than a million dollars he is speaking out, proclaiming his innocence.

"I will not leave this planet until my name is cleared as in completely cleared. And, I will not leave this planet until the individuals behind this are held fully accountable and within the law,” said Doyle.

Doyle and his lawyer were harsh on media during the Thursday morning press conference.

"It would be impossible for me to convey my outrage regarding the manner in which the media has reported on this case since February 5, 2012,” said Doyle.

Doyle was just shy of argumentative at times, refusing to answer specific questions about the case.

"I just wanted to get to know all of you. I so appreciate the support you’ve given me,” said Doyle.

Among other things, the 67-year-old is accused of forging signatures and stealing money through salary increases and personal expenses.

Local philanthropist Allen Shawn Feinstein spoke with ABC 6 News after the media briefing. He gave more than a million dollars to the organization.

"He didn’t live up to our arrangement so we didn’t give him any more money. The money that we gave him was unfortunately wasted and taken away from purposes that were certainly worthwhile,” said Feinstein.

Feinstein didn’t have much to say about Doyle’s new declarations of innocence, besides to say he is waiting to see how everything places out this Fall.

"I am anxious to see what the courts find out and let the courts judge him,” said Feinstein.

Doyle’s trial is scheduled to begin this September.
