Dangerously cold wind chills into Wednesday; another cold shot this weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — After picking up a quick 2-4″ Tuesday morning, Southern New England is now facing an icy night ahead.

Slippery conditions on untreated roadways are possible through Wednesday, so please use caution when traveling!

Wind chills overnight will bottom out in the single-digits as a brisk northwest wind kicks up. Despite the sunshine on Wednesday, temperatures will struggle to even get close to the freezing mark.

Quiet weather continues Thursday but with a bit more cloud cover. On Friday, skies will be mostly overcast with the chance of snow during the p.m. hours as a coastal storm attempts to form.

At this point, all indications are that it will remain mostly offshore as it forms, leading to limited accumulations, but we will be keeping a close eye on it here in the weather center.

A dry weekend will once again be accompanied by dangerously cold air – daytime highs in the 20s, overnight lows in the teens and wind chills even colder than that.
