Dartmouth Police arrest individuals on cocaine, shoplifting charges

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — Dartmouth Police said they have arrested two individuals after a shoplifting incident at Walmart Saturday.

32-year-old Ashley Vertentes of New Bedford was charged with shoplifting. She will also receive a summons for charges including possession with intent to distribute Class A, two counts of possession with intent to distribute Class B, two counts of possession with intent to distribute Class E, and conspiracy to violate drug law.

She had an active warrant out for her arrest.

She and Lance Alford, 54, of Randolph were apprehended after police responded to a report of shoplifting at Walmart. Police located Vertentes at Dartmouth Motor Inn with suspected narcotics in while , while Alford would later be arrested.

He received charges of possession with intent to distribute Class A, two counts of possession with intent to distribute Class B, possession with intent to distribute Class A (subsequent offense), two counts of possession with intent to distribute Class B (subsequent offense), two counts of possession with intent to distribute Class E, and conspiracy to violate drug law.
