Dartmouth police arrest man for alleged statutory rape, stabbing

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Dartmouth Police Department said a New Bedford man was arrested on Jan. 24 in connection with an October 2022 stabbing as well as four outstanding warrants.

41-year-old Ryan Veenstra, in addition to the stabbing, was charged with aggravated statutory rape, indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, threats to commit a crime, and operating under the influence of liquor.

Police said the stabbing case was reopened after the department received information on Veenstra’s alleged involvement.
