Dartmouth police said Monday they arrested a New Bedford man accused of breaking into a car last week.

Police said they responded to Walsh Street just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of an active car break.

While checking the area, Det. Kyle Costa said they found a man matching the description of Joaquim Fortes, who they said was walking near the New Bedford line.

Fortes, 51, was charged with felony breaking and entering into a vehicle during the nighttime, and larceny of property valued under $1,200.
