Dartmouth police bust alleged narcotics dealer

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE)- Dartmouth police arrested a man on Friday who was selling narcotics out of a motel.

Police say that 61-year-old John Oliveira was arrested at the Dartmouth Motor Inn.

Investigators seized about 5.5 grams of cocaine, 4.8 grams of crack cocaine, several pills, and $1,059 in cash from the motel.

Oliveira allegedly tried to escape from police in his vehicle before being arrested.

During the chase he crashed the car and then tried to escape on foot. Detectives apprehended Oliveira shortly after the crash.

Oliveira is being charged with three counts of possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug, one count of possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug, subsequent offense, resisting arrest, failure to stop for police, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
