Dartmouth police make two separate OUI arrests from car crashes

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Dartmouth Police Department said it arrested two alleged intoxicated drivers after they both crashed their cars into utility poles on April 5.
In the early morning of April 5, police responded to reports of a crash involving a car and utility police in the area of Westport Road.
At the scene, Police discovered the driver, 18-year-old Nathan Miller, had been injured.
He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Miller was charged with operating under the influence of liquor and a marked lanes violation.
About one hour later, police responded to the area of Bakerville Road and Beechwood Drive for another report of a car hitting a utility pole.
24-year-old Jake Morgado was found in the driver’s seat, and police said Morgado allegedly told officers he was intoxicated.
Morgado was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation.
Eversource electric repaired both utility poles.
“The Dartmouth Police Department would like to remind everyone that driving while intoxicated is against the law and an offense we take very seriously,” Dartmouth Police Department Chief Brian Levesque said. “While thankfully, no one was seriously injured in either of these incidents, let this be a powerful reminder that not only is this activity illegal, but it can cause a life to shatter in an instant.”
Additionally, Levesque said “If you are intoxicated and need to get home, call a friend, family member, or a ride share system to get yourself, and others, home safely.”
