DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Dartmouth Police and experts are still baffled as to how a six-foot long boa constrictor ended up slithering around a Massachusetts town.
The large snake caught on Saturday in Dartmouth was extremely underweight, starving, and possibly suffering from a respiratory issue, according to a reptile expert.
Marla Isaac, the owner of The New England Reptile and Raptor Exhibit, took the snake after it had been in an animal shelter for three days.
Isaac says she’s been trying to feed the male snake, and that it could take a month to assess the snake’s condition.
Depending on its health, the boa constrictor could become part of Isaac’s exhibit.
The snake was first spotted hiding in a stone wall.
Animal control officers say it was probably a pet, but no one has stepped forward to claim it.
