Dartmouth Police warning public about jury duty scammers

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Dartmouth Police Department is warning the public about scam calls claiming to be from officers.

The department said the caller claims that the victim missed jury duty and has a warrant out for their arrest.

The caller also uses a specific name and badge number from the department.

The victim is then given multiple options to pay to clear the warrant, including using a kiosk in the police station lobby.

The department said that it will never call claiming there is a warrant out for someone.

If you receive a call, immediately hang up and and call the department at 508-910-1735.
