NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A Dartmouth 16-year-old will be arraigned Monday morning after police say he was behind the wheel in a deadly New Bedford hit-and-run pedestrian crash.

The teen was arrested Saturday morning in the incident that left 33-year-old Nicolassa Venture Colaj dead.

Colaj was struck and killed just before midnight New Year’s Eve while crossing Acushnet Avenue.

New Bedford police said that they tracked down an SUV Friday that they said fled the scene of the incident.

The teen is facing multiple charges in the incident including motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of a deadly crash.
