Day 1 of Heat Wave in the Books
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — We hit our first 90° of the year today, and we are now well on our way to the first heat wave of the year as well.
A HEAT ADVISORY in effect through Friday evening for non-coastal counties of Southern New England, which will see heat indices (feel-like temperatures) in the mid/upper 90s.
Both the heat and humidity will peak on Thursday – also the first day of summer! The Solstice occurs at 4:51 p.m. At that time, it could appropriately feel like 100°.
Friday will have a few more clouds with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, which will help to cool things off a bit.
The weekend will see temperatures will in the 80s, but the humidity will remain high.
Right now we expect variably cloudy conditions, with around a 30% chance of a shower or storm each day.
