Human remains discovered after Day 3 FBI Dig

Human remains have been found at the FBI dig site on Branch Avenue in Providence.
The remains were turned over to the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners for testing and DNA analysis.
Thursday marked the third straight day of searching at the property.
"It doesn’t surprise me at all," says Brian Kennedy, who grew up in the neighborhood during the 50s and 60s.
Kennedy says mafia related activity in the area is nothing new.
"I’m not trying to claim there’s bodies buried all over here but there was a mafia involvement here for years and years and years so I’m sure that is a spill over of that factor."
Sources tell ABC 6 News that the FBI is looking for the body of a Boston business man.
The Boston Globe is reporting that man is Steven Disarro. He was the manager of The Channel Nightclub in the early nineties.
A US drug enforcement administration report filed in Boston Federal Court says, a notorious gangster told authorities in 2003, that he walked in on the murder of Disarro in 1993. It was at the former home of Francis Jr, a New England mafia boss. He said Salemmes son, Frank Jr., strangled Disarro. They then drove to Rhode Island, and along with Rhode Island mobster Robert Deluca buried the body at a construction site in Rhode Island, believed to be where the FBI are now digging.
Salemme Jr. Died in 1995. Salemme Sr. denied his involvement but was charged with obstruction of justice and making false statements after prison he went into the witness protection program.
The owner of the mill, William Ricci, has known ties to the mob. He was arrested in a massive drug bust in August. It’s not clear at this point if he is connected to this case.
"This day in age, nothing surprises us anymore," says Phil Barber, who grew up in the neighborhood…."I think it’s always been understood child street has always been the minor league federal hill. It was cleaned up eventually but that’s what you probably saw taking place around here, they know the area so why not drop a body here," he adds.
The FBI will remain on scene until they have completed processing the location where the remains were located.
The FBI says they have been in contact with our regional law enforcement partners relative to unresolved cases and disappearances.
