DCYF discloses near fatality of teenager

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families disclosed the near fatality of a 16-year-old on Wednesday.

Damaris Teixeira, a spokesperson for the department, said the incident occurred Oct. 10.

Teixeira added that DCYF was involved with the child’s family at the time.

The Office of the Child Advocate has been notified.

Teixeira said because of “confidentiality laws, DCYF is prohibited from sharing additional information.”

Another near fatality of a teenager was disclosed on Oct. 7.
