DCYF: 16-month-old Coventry child nearly dies because of neglect

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Department of Children, Youth and Families said Friday that a 16-month-old child from Coventry nearly did last month.

The incident happened on May 14, and DCYF said that neglect was a contributor.

The department said they had no previous involvement with the family.

No further information was immediately released because of confidentiality law, DCYF said.

Under law, known or suspected cases of child abuse or neglect should be reported to DYCF at 1-800-RI-CHILD.
