Deadline for Rhode Island Mail Ballot Applications Approaching
Rhode Island Secretary of State Issues Important Guidance
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – For registered voters planning to vote by mail ballot in Rhode Island, time is running out to submit ballot applications.
The Rhode Island Secretary of State, Nellie Gorbea, issued a reminder to Ocean State voters Friday that the deadline to submit mail ballot applications for the General Election is Tuesday, October 13th.
Importantly, Secretary Gorbea stressed the fact that Monday, October 12th is a holiday, meaning applications are unlikely to arrive in time if sent by mail.
The Secretary encourages anyone at this point that has not applied, to drop off applications instead. They can be dropped off at any local board of canvassers during regular business hours. All applications must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13th. Postmarked applications will not be accepted, meaning election officials must have your application in hand by 4:00 p.m. on the 13th.
Applications can also be returned by using the state’s secure elections drop boxes, located in every community in Rhode Island. You can locate the drop boxes here:
The General Election is Tuesday, November 3rd.
